Trailer Review

Trailer Review

The movie trailer genre that our group decided to do our trailer on is horror as we felt that this is was the best genre of movie we could be most creative with and entertain out audience. Our movie trailer was based on a female student that was getting bullied at school and after a long period of time getting bullied she decided to gain revenge on all the students that took part in bullying her. Our trailer showed off the victim and the students that bullied her, we tried to show off the tension and anger she had by using non-diegetic sounds and violent actions.

The positives of our movie trailer is that we kept the storyline that we wanted our trailer to show to the audience and it was relatively easy to go along with the storyline by watching our trailer. As this was the first time that we done this type of project and used different type of software such as IMovie was it was hard to get use this software at the beginning but we were able to learn how to use IMovie quick and effectively. We didn’t want to over complicate our trailer so when we were filming we just wanted to make sure the story we wanted to express to the viewers was clear, so the acting we done was pretty simple but effective.

We also wanted to use sound effective to create tension and anticipation in our trailer so we looked at other successful horror trailers to see if there were any linked about them and we found that a build up of music and screams were used a lot. With this information we went on IMovie and put a horror theme on our filming and it had the effect we wanted. We also imported high-pitched screams from another software and imported it to our trailer so show off the victims one by one suffering.

The downfalls of our trailer is that the acting wasn’t as professional was we wanted it to be and it made the trailer not have the effect on the audience as much as we would of wanted it to. This made the trailer not look as professional and effective as we would of wanted it to be.
Also the camera shots and angles that we used didn’t have the effect we wanted and this could be due to that we didn’t used many different type of camera angles and shots. We could of used a bird eyes view to show the victim vulnerability and helplessness, this could have been a good shot to of had done as it allows us to use different camera shots and use our skill to create effect. Another drawback, that we found is that the camera quality we used wasn’t able to show off the actors and didn’t have the sharpness and professionalism that we would have had wanted.

Overall, I felt that as this was the first time we done a task like it was success. We used the software to the best of our ability and produced a good trailer.
